Getting Fit and Healthy in Every Ways

It's never too late to be what you might have been.

My Story

Past: In December 2010, I weighed 215 lbs with an approximate BMI 38%.  My youngest just turned 2 years old and I knew it was time to reclaim control over my life again.  I got divorced in March earlier in the year and have full custody of my 4 kids ages ranging from 2-8 yrs old.  After a year of suffering ailments, I was diagnosed of PCOS in February 2011.  I didn’t like what the doctor’s standard recommendation of treatment and I searched for alternative options.  I started improving my health by getting back into 6WBMO eating program I learned 8 years ago and going back to the gym.

This isn’t the first time I was going to tackle such a task.  In 2003, I weighed 230 lbs after having my first child.  The heaviest I ever was.  I didn’t want to live my life as an observer in my child’s life and wanted to be an active participant in theirs.  I saw Michael Thurmond’s 6 Weeks Body Make Over and decided to try it.  I had such a good success in it- I dropped 22 lbs my first 6 weeks without even doing any exercises.  The program stated that 70% depends on your eating habit.  So the cynic in me wanted to test this out.  In 6 months time, I dropped 70 lbs.  I went from 230 lbs to 160 lbs- a size 22/24 to size 11/12.  This is the same eating program that I taught my younger brother Mark which resulted in helping him shed fat from 180 lbs to 130 lbs in less than a year.

I met someone in Sports Medicine that encourage me to get my body/fat ratio down and reset my system completely without prescription drugs.  They taught me to change my perspective about exercise and weight training.  That was May 2011.  I started training like an athlete a month later and did a 90 days training regiment.  I was s size 15/16 but I dropped 20 lbs of fat and shredded lots of inches over all my body in 3 months.

Present: A new chapter in life.  I’m currently at 156 lbs with a BMI of 29%. I have shed 59 lbs of fat off my body since December 2010.  I’m fitting into size 8 pants!!!  I thought fitting into a size 7/8 was a dream but that’s achieved.  I’m no longer a slave to the scale.  I’ve learned so much in this journey that I want to share it with others.

Future: As soon as my youngest child starts school, I would like to return to school and hope to earn a degree in Sports Medicine. I am interested in having a part time career as a physical trainer on the side.  When I first started college many years ago, I was a Biology Pre-Physical Therapy Major.  I loved science and I wanted to do something in the medical field.  However life happened, I changed majors numerous times and ended up with a degree in Business Management Science.  I’m not settling for less now.  Life’s short and I want to be able to help others in a bigger capacity than I can right now.

This pic was taken on November 27th, 2011.  It’s a Betsy Johnson size 10 dress and it’s loose on me!  Yay!!
