Getting Fit and Healthy in Every Ways

It's never too late to be what you might have been.

My Luncheon workout 11/29/2011

It’s been a rainy day outside supposedly but I’ve been indoors all day long.  Just glad it didn’t open up on the way to work.  I got into work early and managed to sneak in a 35 minutes workout on the Elliptical machine in the fitness center in our building worth 401.7 caloric burn.  Today was my off day for my CLX regiment but I needed to focus my mind and I knew a good workout will help my day.

Tonight’s also my Team in Training for my NYC Half marathon after work so I didn’t want to over do it…  Well sorta.  I went during lunch back upstairs for another session on the elliptical machine for 35 minutes and burned 402 calories.  Wow!  Just realized I burned 804 calories already and that doesn’t include the work out this evening.  I made sure I ate right and refueled my body correctly.  It’s pouring out so I’m hoping they won’t keep us long tonight.  I can hope right?  xD

So what have you done towards your weight loss/healthy goal today?

Day 2 of training to run- November 15, 2011

Super excited at lunch to break in my new Brooks Defyance 4 running shoes.  I took time last night to get to JackRabbits and get myself properly fitted for them.

Game plan this afternoon is to see how far I can sustain running and what speed.  I warmed up by starting at 2.5mph and increased it to a mile every 30 seconds until I got to 5mp.  I started running a minute @ 5mph then rest 30 seconds then back on 6mph.  Repeated this until I got up to 8.5 mph and then reduced it back until I got to 4mph.  I started back at 5mph and started to run for 2 minutes rest 30 seconds, increased it by .5mph and run again for 2 minutes until 7.5 mph.  I managed to run a solid 3 minutes at 6.5mph and instead of resting 30 seconds I cut it to 20 seconds.  I did pretty good the last two days.  I did a total of 25:30 mins on the treadmill today.  I managed to run a total of 4 miles on the treadmill with 1% incline since yesterday.  I was totally sweating buckets afterwards.  It was nice to hit the showers after stretching my poor quads.

The best compliment I got from my trainer friend was: “I’ve seen you run on the treadmill before.  You can so do this.  Just need to get the fundamental down like breathing properly and not running with your hands in a fist.  It’s all a mental game.  Don’t let the left side of your brain get the better of you.”  Maybe that’s why I pushed myself a little harder today to see what I can do.  Perhaps by the end of the week, I’ll see how long it would take me to run a mile and just work on getting that time quicker :)
